Welcome to June ...

Our second Cyber Crop will be held on 10/11/12 June with a week to get your entries in to us. We will host three fun challenges, games and have some wonderful prizes for you! So hope you can come join in with us!!

Welcome to our June challenge and I think you will really like our ART room this month - so many ways to interpret this one.  From vintage to travel to black and white photos to fashion to music and movies - the ideas are almost endless.

This year we are making some changes to our challenges which I hope you will all enjoy. During 2022 our inspiration is coming to you from ART ROOMS (aka store window displays). Just bear in mind that these are actual window displays, mostly behind glass, so the images may not be as clear and crisp as our previous artwork images.

How you interpret these arty displays is totally up to you but please let us know what inspired you from our monthly art room – it may be the colours, or the overall style or perhaps there is a specific item you see that you can replicate on your page.  Maybe you like a background pattern or a shape in the display or want to use photos that match the theme.  We’d love to hear what jumped out at you!

And now some inspiration from our team ...

(in no particular order)

Karen Guy (Australia)

I took my inspiration from the Fashion, it reminded of this showing we had seen in the NGV I loved, I have added a few little inspiration pieces from the window display!

Karen Brierley - (Australia)

I noticed the guitar in the window straight away, and I was inspired to scrap this music-themed page with a female performer.

Sharon Bishop - (Australia)

ROCK N ROLL BALLERINA

I took my inspiration from the Guitar and the portrait style photos of the iconic movie sirens.

I did my page on Suzi Quattro, as she is my all time rock n roll favourite musician. I added a guitar and a head shot of her.

I called my page Rock n Roll Ballerina because when Suzi strums her guitar she often raises her hand above her head like a ballerina pose!

Dale Tiernan - (Australia)

These photos reminded me of the screen in the middle of the scene. I've used black, cream and gold and a nod to dressing up/fashion. I've also added a frame to one pic.

Jane Howden - (Australia)

The first thing I noticed from this ART room were the fur coats and fashion hair and hats. I knew I had a vintage photo of my Aunty wearing both ... and a layout was born.

Our monthly prize winner is selected by random draw - so anyone could be a winner, you just have to be in it to win it!

Karen Brierley - (Australia)

I raided my stash of green & blue scraps to create another page for the 3 Girls' Road Trip album.

Dale Tiernan - (Australia)

Inspired by the colours and the use of stripes.  I decided to go with paint instead of my original idea of washi.

Sharon Bishop - (Australia)

CAN SOMEONE WATER MY PLANTS WHILST I'M AWAY?

Took my inspiration from the background vertical strips and the huge array of plants, that are waiting to be watered!

Karen Guy (Australia)

Loved these colours, of course washi tape came to mind!  Ran with the garden theme.

Jane Howden - (Australia)

Inspired by the vertical stripes, the colours and the garden theme.  I used silver square brand to replicate the plant pots.

Used the bright pink and green from the shop front inspiration and added a few columns! The added netting represents the diamond shapes.
Tulum, Mexica trip 2006.

Karen Guy (Australia)

I had fun with this one, inspired by the colours, shapes and fibres… Used photos I had from the Warwick Jumper’s and Jazz festival!!

Karen Brierley - (Australia)

I made a page for my travel journal. I used lots of pink, a mix of textures and patterns, and pops of neon pink and lime green.

Dale Tiernan - (Australia)

Inspired by the lime green and bright pink and use of lines.

Jane Howden - (Australia)

I immediately saw huge letters when I saw this display and as I had a few thought what better time to use them. Ran with the colours of pink, blue and lime and added large blocks of patterned paper to replicate the columns.

Many years ago I received these cute felt toadstools in a RAK gift. This month's Art Room inspired me to place them on a layout, at long last!

Dale Tiernan - (Australia)

A multitude of colours with a variety of patterns. A border around the edges.

Sharon Bishop - (Australia)

I took my inspiration from all the mushroom shapes and sizes.

Transformed them into mushroom houses, so pics of my grand daughter and her new cubby house were perfect!

I added a mushroom quote…. My HEART has so MUSH-ROOM for you to STAY - by Sonali Gupta

Karen Guy (Australia)

This beautiful window display just reminded me of Hobbiton homes and Toadstools and mushrooms!

Jane Howden - (Australia)

I loved the whimsical feel of this display and was inspired by the use of a black background, the overall colours and the mushrooms.

I used the red, yellow, blue and black colours in squares and rectangles!

My Grandaughter Skyla and her first pair of school shoes!

Karen Guy (Australia)

I looked at this Window display and just thought Lego, oops no Shoes!

Dale Tiernan - (Australia)

Inspiration - predominantly white, black shapes (squares), primary coloured blue, red and yellow and of course, shoes!

Karen Brierley - (Australia)

I was inspired by the primary colours, squares and the shoes. This was very much a 'play around and see what happens' kind of page!

Jane Howden - (Australia)

I used the colours and the block style to document something to do with the "shoe theme" although perhaps in a slightly different way! This is a blast from my past :)
