AND NOW -  Some more October inspiration from our remaining creative team members ...

This memory jar came about when I spied a tiny nest that had been left on the ground at our place. It contained wool from my jumper, some of my hair and lots of my dogs. We leave little bird treats with these sorts of goodies out for them.

I added in some wooden stems and chipboard feathers.

I used a wooden camera and wooden person on my layout.

I have used bark from a birch tree and peacock feathers to create a new background for the photo of my daughter from when we visited Dairy Farm in Cornwall last year. The paper has wood panels pattern with birds and flowers so I have both real and fake wood and feathers on this page.

Using a wood veneer feather.

We'd love to see your interpretations of this inspiration this month - your project only has to include some wood OR feathers and these can be in any form.  Think wood veneer frames, arrows, speech bubbles, or use patterned paper in this theme - you could even just focus on outdoor photographs which contain trees ;)

Remember we happily accept all forms of paper crafting for your entry including digital and encourage international submissions.  All we ask is that you create an original entry for our challenge although you are most welcome to combine with a sketch and/or colour challenge if you wish.  You have until 11.55pm on the last day of the month to submit your entry.

Next week we will be introducing you to the August winner of our guest designer spot, Helena Reinedahl.

Don't forget - Each month we will be selecting someone from amongst our entries to be a guest designer for one of our upcoming challenges - it could be you!!

Also stayed tuned for some exciting news concerning 2014 - details end of next week.

Introducing Deb Kupfer ...

our first guest designer for ARTastic for October with her amazing and truly inspiring take on this months challenge.

Hi! I’m Deb and super excited to be Guest Designing for this wonderful challenge blog.   I’ve been scrapbooking for quite a while now – around 13 years.  I look back on my earlier attempts at scrapbooking and can see how much it all has changed – scrapping styles – my style, but I still do love to go back through my older albums and enjoy the memories that they hold.  I love the idea that I can have such a great creative outlet for myself and know that in the years to come, my family will be able to enjoy the memories that I have kept for them.   I’d say my style is  “shabby/vintage” sometimes with a little bit of whimsy thrown in.    I love distressing, paints, mists, stains and generally getting messy on my layouts but I do love the pretties as well – the lace, the doilies and flowers.  I’ve had a heap of fun playing with this month’s challenge for ARTastic and would like to thank Jane for inviting me.

Please visit me on my blog http://www.deefa-debz.blogspot.com.au/

Here are some more lovely examples of Deb's work ...

Welcome Deb.  We are delighted to have you join us.

Remember you have until 11.55pm on October 31st to submit your entries.  We'd love to see your take on this challenge.

Introducing Lizzy Hill ...

... our second guest designer for the September inspiration with her delightful page  ...

Hi there!   My name is Lizzy Hill & I began scrapping in 2009 after coming home from a trip overseas. Mum encouraged me to ‘give it a go’ as a way of getting my photos sorted. It opened up a whole new world which I just adore. Blogging seemed to be a natural extension of scrapping – thus I’ve managed to combine a whole pile of ‘loves’ - photography, writing & scrapping!

I’ve got a couple of grown sons, as well as a cute Grand Boy for me to scrap!!! I used to be a hairdresser [decades ago!] then an English teacher, but these days I’m pretty much enjoying the Good Life at home….
My style is madly eclectic. I’ll give anything a go…including ‘whimsical’ for this challenge, which I might add, I’d not tried before & I absolutely LOVED doing!!! I scrap pages, cards, Off the Page projects as well as dabbling in Art Journaling.  I love doing multi-photo pages as much as single ones & I’ll do A4s as well as 12x12 LOs – nothings safe!! My usual way of scrapping is to start with the photos, & they seem to dictate the colour combo.

My fave embellies are masks, mists & badges atm. Gelatos are way high up on the List, too, as you can see from this page.
This is my 2nd term on the Scrap Friends Design Team, & I’m on the first ever The Trinket Track team, which are both a REAL blast…..& I’ve been published in Scrap365 [UK mag] as well as a fair bit in the Australian mag Scrapbooking Memories.

I feel so honoured & tickled pink to be joining ARTastic as GD this month…I really LOOOVE the variety on this challenge blog…..hope you do too
Please call past my blog and see more of my work.

Here are some more Lizzy layouts ....

Welcome Lizzy.  We are so pleased you have come to join us on ARTastic this month.

Remember you have until 11.55pm on September 30th to submit your entries.  We'd love to see your fun layouts.

Hi, my name is Kirsty Lang and I live in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, sunshine capital of New Zealand.

I started scrapbooking in 2004 and I love the storytelling of scrapbooking and the friends that I have made along the way.  I like to take my time creating my layouts, savouring each precious minute.

I'm afraid I don't have a blog but here are a few of my layouts.

Thanks Jane for the opportunity to be a guest designer.

And suddenly it's September ....

... now how on earth did THAT happen!!

This month we feature Michael Cartwright with Holiday Homes

Criteria – Quirky and fun – let’s see some lighthearted, whimsical entries

Michael says … I paint in two distinct techniques. Brightly Coloured Quirky Cottages and Traditional Landscapes. Both styles explore the beauty of Western Australia’s south coast where I live. There is no shortage of subjects to paint in this part of the world as the area displays a vast array of delightful scenery. Whimsical scenic towns collide with traditional local history from where both techniques derive.

I love the quirky, fun layouts our creative team have for you this month.

Introducing Chris Sexton ...

the winner of our guest designer in July with her wonderful interpretation of the August inspiration ...

I brushed a piece of white cardstock with water, leaving the outer edges dry. I then dropped yellow and blue watercolour paint around the page and blew the paint with a straw towards the outer edges of the page, allowing some of the colour to mix. I then spattered the page with a small amount of red. Lastly I sprinkled salt in some areas, then dried the whole sheet with a heat gun. It helps to minimise warping if you tape the page to a solid base before you start.

Hello, I'm Chris Sexton. I'm married (40 years in Dec)  and live in far north east NSW. I'm a retired school teacher and was introduced to scrapping just before I retired about 5 years ago. I fell in love with the craft and have been creating ever since. I have made many albums for family and friends plus loads for myself about me, my family, my travels, my house and my garden. One of my biggest problems is storage, both for my albums and my stash. It's starting to take over my life (not to mention my bank account).

I don't have a set scrapbooking style except to say my layouts are usually clean and uncomplicated. The one thing I love is pattern paper. There are so many gorgeous papers around and I tend to buy impulsively. If I love it I have to have it  and worry about how I'm going to use it later. I enjoy visiting blogs and leafing through magazines to get inspiration for my layouts. There are so many clever, creative scrappers out there. I have especially enjoyed entering the challenges on the ARTastic website, which I started doing at the end of last year. They have both inspired me and stretched me and I'm now prepared to take more risks and be a little more adventurous.

When I'm not scrapping, I love to read, take photos, paint with watercolours, work in my garden, look after my dear old mum, spend time with my precious family and travel with my husband. Retirement has opened up another world for me and I love that I can now indulge my passions.

I had breast cancer ten years ago when I was 50 and that was a big wake-up call . I now endeavour to make the most of every day and make more time for the people who are most important to me; my family and friends. I am grateful for the little things and feel that every day of the last ten years has been a special blessing. Life is GREAT!

Thanks so much for the opportunity to be a guest designer at ARTastic for August.  You can see more of my work  HERE.

I've included two more of my layouts ...

"Just too cute" - a layout depicting two of my gorgeous nephews

"Timeless Beauty" - a layout of my paternal grandmother as a young teen

Welcome Chris.  We are delighted to have you join us on ARTastic this month.

Remember you have until 11.55pm on August 31st to submit your entries.  We'd love to see what you do.
