Our April Inspiration ..

will come to you via Cafe on the Left Bank by Julie Podstolski (suggested by Creative Team member Debi Clark).  This is a coloured pencil drawing of tables and chairs set out on a Parisian Street early in the morning before the arrival of customers.

Extra criteria for challenge - we'd like to see you base your entry around the theme of food.

A bit about Julie Podstolski.

Julie is a Painter/illustrator based in South Fremantle, Western Australia.

She is New Zealand-born and moved to Australia in 1982. After working for over 20 years with oil paints she switched to using coloured pencils in 2001 with the aim to achieve luminosity and a sense of drama to her works. She is described as a realistic artist and her works reflect interesting aspects of everyday live, including urban  landscapes and people.  A lot of her work features aspects of life in Japan where she travels frequently.  This piece Cafe on the Left Bank was inspired by time spent in Paris in December 2010.

Debi's Bio ...

Hi everyone,

I am a happy paper crafter & card maker, & for the past 9 years have looked at the world in a different way – a scrapbooking way. I am so fortunate that I literally stumbled into scrapbooking, a 'revelation' as I passed a scrapbooking shop in Brisbane & that is now my personal passion, with my family being always put to paper. I never ever believed I was creative, & very happy that I found it! I encourage friends to try their hand, & on most occasions they have returned with a smile, & this insane desire to buy more paper! I term my style as 'rumbled'- rarely squared lines, love layering, I like to add extras like labels & tickets & laces, & put lots of love & thought into each piece. Possibly shabby chic or grungy...maybe a bit of everything!
I have been married to Pete for 35 years, have 2 grown up children with families, & quite a few grandchildren! I work 2 jobs, plus we also run our own company 'after normal work hours' - so I am always busy & there is never a dull moment! My family is very supportive of my hobby, well it really is a way of life, as it encompasses the whole of me. I have made delightful friendships through my craft, some friends far away & a bunch of gals closer to home - & what fun we have together with our paper & adhesives!
I also really enjoy designing sketches for challenges or personal use, & quite often sit & design a number of them using my digital scrapbooking program.
I really enjoy seeing what the scrapbooking fraternity comes up with each month on ARTastic, & love to see everyone’s different interpretations too of the theme.
My blog is http://debisjoy.blogspot.com/

Cheers,

Debi Clark
