Hi Elaine here,
I love using twine in my layouts; it's easy, versatile, cheap and colourful. I
even use the cooking twine from the stationary isle in the supermarket.
I
was looking on Pinterest for some more ideas and saw shapes made out of twine
which I had to try. I thought I'll share with you how I did it. Following this
months theme, I went with a star shape.
First draw free hand or using a
stencil a star on a scrap piece of paper. This will be your template.
Lay over top some wax paper, you will be able to glue straight onto
this cause it won't stay sticking.
Place glue along the lines of
your template, make sure you use a glue that dries clear. I have used the Kaiser
craft acid free glue for mine. Then it is a matter of laying your twine along
the glue, making sure you put extra glue where the twine overlaps each other.
It's a little bit fiddly and messy but worth it :-).
Leave your
star to dry. When it is just about dry, carefully peel off the wax paper and if
the glue is still a little bit wet, you can stick straight onto your page. It
doesn't matter if there is excess glue, because once it is on your page, you
won't see it.
I made 2 for my page since I loved how the first one
turned out.
I also use twine for my buntings, which I do a lot of,
to tie onto tags for a bit of extra colour
to
create a different way of placing photos onto my layout, in bunting style
and even to highlight a part of a photo without cropping the whole photo
I hope I have given some ideas on using twine and would love to
see some of your ideas.
Thank you everyone for playing along with us last month - we had some wonderful entries from which to select some of our winners. Of course each month we do a completely random draw so anyone is potentially a winner :)
