Hello May ...

Our May inspiration is just delightful.  This beautiful painting is by Cathy McClelland and is called Tap Dancer.

CRITERIA -  Flowers

A little about Cathy McClelland ...

The paintings of Cathy McClelland show her love of the landscapes that surround her, she is a fifth generation cattle farmer at Bell where her pretty farm is snuggled into the foothills of the Bunya Mountains National Park and surrounded by beautiful views. It is here with her husband, they raised four wonderful children, multitudes of animals, and have happy contented cattle grazing throughout their pastures. Cathy loves family, animals, photography and travelling.

Combining whimsical magic with a reverent realism, Cathy paints her country's landscape with a graceful sense of mystique. Highly regarded for her contemporary realism style, McClelland draws on her personal emotional responses when translating a landscape into her work, utilising a unique combination of colour and texture to guide each viewer’s connection to her initial inspiration. She paints her subjects with honesty and integrity in a flowing composition that sits easily on the eye.

And now some inspiration from our team ...

This month we bid farewell to longtime DT member Elaine Schoof whose growing family means she doesn't have as much time as she once had for craft pursuits. We will be sad to see her go but wish her all the very best for the future.  Thank you for being such a wonderful and valued part of the team Elaine.

We'd like to welcome the lovely Karen Brierley to our little team.  I love how Karen can take the seemingly ordinary and make it seem extra-ordinary - I am sure you will all love her work as much as I do.

Karen Brierley - Australia
I took my inspiration from the bird and its pink sky background. I made my own flowers using cutting dies.

Tanya Heritage - Australia
I used the greenery in the garden as my inspiration.

Tone Jensen - Norway
I was inspired by the different colors.

Kat Gray - Australia
I was inspired by the colours, the flowers and the cute little bird.

Judy Willey - Australia
I was inspired by the soft, pretty colours in the painting and have used mainly pinks and yellows.

Karen McLaughlin - Australia

Jane Howden - Australia
I loved the bright colours in the artwork and wanted to prove that you can use flowers successfully on a boy page!
