Welcome to December ...

Welcome to our final challenge of 2020 (and what a year it has been). We have decided to give ourselves a little break over the Christmas/New Year period so you will have two months to play along with us - entries will close for this challenge at the end of January. Our first challenge for 2021 will be for February.

Our inspiration this month comes to you from Salvatore Zofrea with Christmas Bells 2011.

CRITERIA - Anything goes so surprise us !

A little about Salvatore Zofrea ...

Painter and printmaker Salvatore Zofrea was born in Italy, arriving in Australia in 1956. He trained at the Julian Ashton School between 1961 and 1966. He has held solo exhibitions in Sydney, Wollongong, Brisbane and internationally in Rome. His work has been in group exhibitions at the National Gallery of Australia and the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Zofrea has completed commissions including a mural for the State Bank of New South Wales and a Fresco for the Sydney Opera House Trust. Between 1994 and 1999 he embarked on a project to complete a series of 100 autobiographical woodcuts titled the ‘Appassionata’ which he donated to the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Zofrea was awarded the Sulman Prize in 1977, 1979 and 1982. He received a Power bequest in 1981 and a Churchill Fellowship in 1986. In 1995 he was conferred a Cavaliere or Knighthood by the Italian Government. Zofrea’s work is held by the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; Parliament House, Canberra; several regional and tertiary collections and internationally by the MOMA in New York and the Vatican in Rome. A monograph of his work was published in 1983.

And now some inspiration from our team ...
(in no particular order)

Karen McLaughlin - (Australia)

Annemarie Caister - (New Zealand)
Lots of fussy cutting and layering on this layout!

Karen Guy (Australia)

The Native flowers inspired these layouts.

Karen Brierley - (Australia)
I went with orange and flowers for my inspiration.

Dale Tiernan -  (Australia)
Flowers around Broome, Western Australia

Sharon Bishop - (Australia)
Lots of Australian foliage, with a Christmas theme... 'Cookie Joy'. Lots of fussy cutting too!

Jane Howden - (Australia)
I took the basic colours from the inspiration artwork and also used the "native" aspect to showcase a photo of a wallaby we spotted on a walk through a National Park in Tasmania while on vacation some years ago.

Our main prize winner is selected by random draw - so anyone could be a winner, no matter your style or your level of experience or your country of residence. If there are more than 8 entries in the month a second prize (donated each month by one of our team) will be drawn.

Main Prize

Second Prize
(drawn if more than 8 entries)

Now over to you ......

This year we will no longer be using a "linky" tool. Please upload your entries directly to the monthly album in our Facebook public group (ARTastic challenges) by midnight on the last day of the month - please remember we are an Australian based challenge so do check your day and time. For anyone not on Facebook, simply email us your entry and if you have a blog, a link to that too so we can still pop past for a visit. You may combine your entry with 3 other challenges. You may enter more than once in any month as long as each submission is with a different creation. International entries are very welcome.

Hope to see your amazing layouts in our Facebook gallery.
