Here is a monthly submission from Renae, one of the DT contributors.

Renae Deguara (DT member) - Bashful B'Day Beauty

Like many of the other gorgeous layouts this month I was totally inspired by the design and colours of this Warhol piece. I decided to keep with the blocks of the artwork and incorporate the colours into my Layout for a bright fun and funky scrap, which is how I view the painting.....BRIGHT, FUN AND FUNKY!!!

*************************

Beautiful Renea, you have really out down your self with this months take on the Warhol inspiration. I love the title and the colors you have used, I am sure this will inspire our followers to give this months challenge a go......... don't forget this months challenge will continue through August, so you have plenty of time to get your entries in.

Cheers
Shazza

This one is all the way from Canada!

Dinnae Galloway - growing up ... so fast

Here's what Dinnae said about her masterpiece.........I'm a multi-photo scrapper, so I decided to warhol-ise a series of pics I'd taken of Shan last week. I've been itching to do something like this for YEARS Shazza - so here was my "excuse" to bite the bullet and do it! I didn't do the full warhol-isation, as in, take out all of the shading, as I wanted to keep the features of Shan's face... but, I did cut out the background, used bright crazy colours... and well, had a stinkin' fun time doing it! I hope you like!

Ooh! Dinnae, I more than like it I think it looks super, you really got into this challenge. I'm glad you left in some shading I think you would of lost those goegeous facial expressions. Love the stitching too... Cheers Shazza

Thanks Michelle for your entry, it looks fabulous, I love the bold and bright.
It looks as if Andy has done it himself.

Amanda took her inspiration from the bright colours and she also
thought these sass lass pps cartoony look suited perfectly, and
also suited this bright kindy pic of her son Connor...

I love the bright colors you have used Amanda, and what a great pic of Connor.
Must get my self some sassafraslass pp's for sure!! Thanks for your entry Amanda!

Cheers
Shazza

First entry for July/August comes from...........

Marisa Page - Everyday Chores

Marisa said she got her inspiration from the design & the colours.

Thanks Marisa, its gorgeous. Love the pics and the colors you have used,
this is a real stand out page....... Fab work!

Hi Everyone!

This is my first ever post to the ARTastic challenge site as the new operations manager !! lol

The bad news is that unfortunately Allison has stepped down from the running of this site but the good news is, the site will still be kept running on exactly the same concept that she set up in the first place. There will be a few minor changes, the first being that I have decided the 'Andy Warhol' inspiration will continue through til the end of August. At this stage there has been no entries received........ or has there! ...............better go check out my emails.

The month will also give me a chance to get my head around the site :) to contact DT members and tidy up a few loose ends.

So my scrappin friends, support me by becoming involved......... a layout on the 'Andy Warhol' inspiration would be a great way to start :)

C'mon ladies....... what better art work to gain inspiration from than "SHOES"....... and "Shoes" of all colors, designs, shapes and sizes lol

Cheers for now!
Shazza

I know Shazza will do a wonderful job and that you will all welcome her :) The email for submissions has been updated on the Blog page for those of you that have layouts to send in for July.

A big hug and thankyou from me !!!! Thanks everyone for all your kindness and support!

More Warhol Inspiration

Some more arty goodness landing in the inbox today :)

Shazza "Your the Coolest"
My layout is titled "You're the coolest", I was inspired by the bright, funky colors and knew this would be the perfect project to use my "Lime Rickey" collection pack from Basic Grey. I matted the photo, and out lined it with small square blocks taking in to account the grids of bright colors.

And from Michelle
I love the "pop art" look of Andy Warhol's work, and of course the bright colours !
My LO, "Smile", is inspired by those colours. I also drew inspiration from the cartoon like drawings, and added the cute BG Lime Rickey bird sticker !

June Winner

Winner for June is Amanda with her layout "A Wrestle and a Hug" thanks for participating :) send along your details so I can send along your embellishment kit from Whats Old is New :)

July!!

Hopefully the cold nights will see you all inside rugged up and scrapping the nights away :)

The July Artist is Andy Warhol and the inspiration for your layouts will come from this sample some of his commercial art.

Lisa is going to kick us off with her layout titled "That Curl" She says I was inspired by the grid of colours and created my own version on the layout behind the photo using scraps of patterned paper.I also matted the photo in black, picking up on the narrow black gridlines between the blocks of colours.

Prize for the month of July is swatch book of princess rubons perfect for girls pages!

Finishing up For June

The final two layouts for June. The team and I will take a vote on all entries and the winner of the "Whats Old is New" pack announced on Monday. Thanks everyone for your wonderful entries and support of the Blog :)

Amanda
I took inspiration from the pic as in I have a pic of 3 of my sons wrestling and mucking about and the grungy colours in the pic.

Danielle

Here is my take on June's artisit. It is based on the first time my son rode his new motor bike. I loved the colours although I have slightly muted them on my lo but I loved the 'blocked' look which I have utilised on my page with the small photos on the right hand side.

More than Mid Way!

This month like all the others is passing in a flash. Two wonderful layouts have appeared in my inbox over the last week or two from Tezza and Natasha :)

The first is Tezza's and this is what she had to say.. I love the title and where it comes from :)
I pondered this one for a while before deciding to use some of the browns, blues & oranges from this artist. I also went for the eclectic styling...well my photo is off centre & when my daughter Bek & I are together we are eclectic mayhem.....lol hence the title. I loved the blocking, almost geometrical look to the artwork.

The second is Natasha's who writes...

When I first saw this months artist, I was immediately inspired by the colours in the painting... the browns & blues, with the touches of white, orange, yellow & black. I happened to have a 'musical' photo in my photo storage box that fit the colours I wanted to use perfectly - thanks to Leroy's pre-school shirt! I've used American Crafts Craft Fair range of PP - just love those little owls. To carry on the music theme I pinched a section of music out of one of hubby's old music mags - was already nice & discoloured - love how this looks.

and a close up of the detail

Fab work!!!!

I want to take the chance to plug another challenge site in this post as well. Currently there is a monthly sketch challenge runnning over at
A-Z scraplets with some great prizes so if you need another excuse to scrap LOL (who doesnt) then head on over and join in :)

May Winner Announced

The votes are in and may's winner is SONIA with her layout "Reflections" Congratulations Sonia. Please email me your address so I can mail out your rose coloured chipboard pieces from GCD :)
Our next contributer share is from Shazza. I really like the blocking shazza and the twisted frame really relates to the artwork :)

Here is my submission for June called "Monkey Business". This was a perfect photo to use for my submission. I was inspired by the blue/orange/red and brown colors taken from Picasso's "The Three Musicians", also the fact that there were 3 characters in the photo, as with the three musicians. Hope you like it :)

June Artist

June artist is my all time favorite! Picasso. The piece I have chosen is "The three Musicians" I love the colour combo and geometric shapes! plenty there to get the inspiration flowing.

Lisa is first cab off the rank to share this month with her layout titled "Your laughter is music to my ears" and she writes I was inspired by Picasso's use of browns, bright colours and the musical notes and tried to use patterned papers that reflected this.I used different shades of brown and added touches of bright orange and blue in the embellishments.

Last week for entries

our next share is from Sonia she wrote:
Here is my entry for Mays Dali Challenge....I had chosen some photos of a red panda to work with on this challenge, and then my husband snapped these pictures - and that was it, I could see Dali's colours, reflections and butterflies...instantly and got to creating.I have also used the acetate sheet that came with my BasicGrey Stamps as the colours were perfect.

The layout looks fabulous Sonia :)

Another Team Share :)

Natasha writes...I was very inspired by the colours in the Dali painting... I tried to carry that through on my layout, the Kaiser Craft Esperance range was perfect for this. I also wanted to use a photo that was a bit surreal and I just love this one of my little man's toes when he was just 4 months old. For the butterflies I have stamped them with Staz On ink onto a transparency and cut them out, then secured them to my layout with a gold brad. I also swiped the background paper with a silver ink pad as an attempt of recreating the silvery & white clouds in the painting. Details shots on my blog at http://www.tashallen.blogspot.com/

" TO SLEEP PERCHANCE TO DREAM " She says-

Friday Updates

Hi everyone. Hope you have had a great week and are looking forward to a lovely Mothers Day with your families! I have some more fantastic layouts to share with you this evening.
The first is by Peggy

Peggy was inspired by that beautiful colour combination and of course the butterflies. Details can be found on her blog: http://peggy-s.blogspot.com/

The journaling on Peggy's page (which is in Dutch) reads:
What I feel for my kids is so much more than mere love, it's a kind of love that's hard to describe. It's a kind of everlasting being in love, a constant feeling of butterflies in my stomach. I would be lost without my children, they are the reason of my existence.

and some more fab shares from the team by Terri and Renae

Terri brown

Terri says.. I've used the colours in the painting & used a photo of my children that evoke's the warm emotions that the colours inspire. I used a more funky PP choice as well as placement of embellishments to reflect the difference between the boys & girls -- sort of like Dali's use of shadow & light.

INTRODUCING MAY!

Our featured May artist is Salvador Dali and his work "Landscape with Butterflies"

The team have interpeted this one in a variety of ways. There will be more shares in the next few days for now here are Shazza and Michelle's

SHAZZA "Hell on Earth"

The orange tones reminded me of the large orange flames that engulfed huge gum trees on Black Saturday. The butterflies appear abnormally large against the rockand so with the bushfires, the size and intensity of the bushfires were under estimated. They were too large to control, the extent and widespread damage was devastating. The black shadows remind me of the aftermarth of the fires leaving blackened gum trees covering the landscape. It was like "Hell on Earth". The gumnut and leaves are the regrowth that appears almost straight away after a natural disaster such as this.

Michelle The World Awaits Him

I have gone for the colours and butterflies. The photo has some shadows in it too !

A very exciting month here at ARTastic. We have several fabulous women contributing to the blog as part of the ARTastic team who include:-

Trudi Harrison
Shazza Bishop
Terri Brown
Lisa Hanrahan
Renae Deguara
Michelle Winston
Danielle Pasli
Natasha Allen

Congratulations everyone and I am so glad you want to be a part of something new! I am sure that the team will have us inspired with their unique style, perspective and interpretation of each months artist.

The artist this month is Salvador Dali with particular focus on his artwork titled "landscape with butterflies" The team will be showing off their examples in the coming days (they werent given much notice by me this time around) :) In the meantime here are some of the teams take on their favourite artist

TRUDI HARRISON
I don’t really have a favourite modern day artist (sad fact but true LOL!) Ken Done comes to mind (for the wrong reasons) – yes I had the fashion disaster overalls mid to late 80’s that were inspired by Ken’s art work. There are many works from past and present that inspire me in different ways. I guess that I perhaps may be a bit prehistoric when I say that Monet is my all time favourite. I have always been particularly drawn to scenes and pastels and in direct contrast to this; strong line and colour

SHAZZA ALLEYES
Vermeer...My favourite artist is Vermeer, I love that he paints middle-class people going about their daily life. He was also brilliant when it came to using light or highlights on his subjects. I love his painting "The Art of Painting" as it gives a realistic visual depiction of the scene as if someone has pulled back the curtain and snapped a photo. His masterpiece and my favourite "Girl with the pearl earing"..... his "Mona Lisa." I love the intimacy of the girls gaze and the focal point being the pearl which emits a soft light on to the girls cheek.

NATASHA ALLEN
For as long as I can remember, art has been a part of my family life, my mother having painted and drawn for many years. My first facination with the Great Artists began while studying HSC Art and I did a study on Da Vinci and his pencil drawings. A few years later I went off to study to become a graphic designer and while there discovered how much I loved Piet Mondian. His graphic paintings gave me much inspiration.

MICHELLE WINSTON
My favourite artist is my brother-in-law, Rex Winston-Walford.
I love Rex's art because it is a combination of traditional and modern Aboriginal art.Rex's works are detailed, colourful and very contemporary.

See his work here

I also love Claude Monet.I fell in love with his work, after my DH rescued a huge framed print, of " In The Park Monceau" from the tip ! I just adore the impressionistic style of chunky brushstrokes, and use of gorgeous colours.

PRIZES
The winner of last months prize is Renae. If you can contact me via email with your details I will post the Tim Holtz Mask to you on Monday. The winner of the Heidi Swapp Edge Distresser (drawn at random) is Vicky!!! send along your details Vicky so I can send that one out.

This months prize is a GCD Studios Rose Coloured Chip Sticker Shape Pack.Yummo!

Layout Share Last for April

Here is Lisa's layout for the April "Klimt" Challenge...The photo is of my three year old daughter asleep on a friend's lounge. My girlfriend took the photo and altered it too...I drew inspiration from the subject matter and the colours... the lady in the Klimt painting appears to be resting or sleeping and this reminded me of the photo of my daughter... I also used similar colours, especially with the flowers.

And Trudi ....Here is my take on April's Art inspired challenge. In creating my layout 'True Colours' I have been inspired by the richness of colour in the art piece

Looking Fab!!
